Job Summary:

We are seeking a full-time show integration editor/reporter to join the ABC News Digital team.

The person in this role will be primarily responsible for writing and line editing text stories that are published on ABCNews.com that pertain to ABC News' shows and platforms. This person will have other duties pertaining to shows and platforms, including writing headlines and captions for show videos and may also be called upon to write or edit other stories as needed.

Though a key part of the role is managing text stories, the person in this role is also responsible for coordinating other key editorial elements and liaising with the wider newsgathering operation as well as broadcast units, the Digital video team, and the Audience Development team, which oversees our platforms and social media.

The ideal candidate is someone who is a thoughtful writer and editor, and has experience handling or leading breaking news coverage, is a self-starter and does well under pressure.

The hours are generally 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday to Friday, though the hours may change on occasion due to coverage needs. The role is hybrid and is based at ABC News’ New York headquarters. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Write and edit multiple text articles per day based on show scripts

  • Write headlines and captions for videos for shows and platforms

  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, editors, bookers and correspondents for the shows and platforms

  • When necessary, write and edit breaking news stories

  • Coordinate news coverage across different teams

  • Make editorial judgments on a minute-to-minute basis

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience editing for a digital news outlet

  • Ability to write on deadline with speed and accuracy

  • Proven experience handling breaking news

  • Willingness and desire to collaborate across different teams

  • Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects and tasks

  • Brings energy and positivity to the group dynamic

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has experience running point on major breaking news

  • Experience collaborating with different teams

  • Excellent communication skills


The hiring range for this position in New York is $78,800- $108,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
