Job Summary:

Reporting to the President, Disney Branded Television and partnering with Disney Branded Television Creative Teams, the Consultant, Content & Inclusion will be a key partner to the leadership of Disney Branded Television in various areas, including Live Action, Animation Development, Current Series, Unscripted content, and Original Movies. The person in this role will help shape the narratives and storytelling of Disney Branded Television, ensuring that the content is entertaining, authentic, and brings joy to the audience. They will work closely with creative executives to execute the creative strategy with compelling and brand-appropriate content, and provide ongoing guidance and direction to team members.

This is an estimated 6-month Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with creative executives to bring the creative strategy to life with compelling and brand-appropriate content.

  • Provide ongoing guidance and direction to Content Inclusion team members, and act as a point of escalation.   

  • Cultivate an inclusive culture where there is diversity of thought to drive innovative ideas. 

  • Initiate partnership with Creative teams to develop and refine content (live action and animation) that reflects our global audiences.

  • Liaise with creative executives to review and refine representative content strategies and ideas; driving forward creative with a lens of authenticity and reflection of all.

  • Build strong creative and business relationships across The Walt Disney Company, including DEI Enterprise/Disney Entertainment Television teams as well as external organizations and companies.

  • Identify and guide DBT’s social responsibility and community engagement efforts in partnership with TWDC/DET corporate social responsibility leadership.

  • Provide creative notes and feedback to Development & Current Series Executives on projects ensuring representation and maximization of diverse storytelling opportunities.

  • Connect with Live Action, Animation, Unscripted creative executives/writers/showrunners about characters, theme, story boards, concepting phases etc.

    • For Current Series: act as a sounding board and collaborator in problem-solving story ideas; can workshop with showrunners et al as needed.

    • For Development: act as an internal stakeholder giving feedback from a cultural specificity perspective.

  • Build relationships with DET and enterprise partners to leverage the unique insights that add value to the Creative Process through formal and informal feedback loops.

  • Collaborate with DET Research & Insights Leadership to ensure workstreams have appropriate strategy, mobilization, and implementation.

    • Deliver learning experiences and cultural competency guides to develop leaders who drive inclusive behavior and content.

    • Establish consistent metrics and reporting to assess performance, inform decisions and assess the ROI of their efforts.

    • Partner with stakeholders to understand DBT above and below the line talent representation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Creative Management, DEI, Human Resources or related area.

  • Possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record of successful leadership, and in-depth knowledge of multicultural and cultural competencies.

  • Strong listening and influencing skills, well-developed emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead with the consumer and business in mind while thinking and acting strategically.

  • Understanding of the importance of cultural nuance and a proven ability to develop and execute initiatives that require broad-based buy-in for success.

  • Strategic thinker with superior collaboration skills, a compelling track record of leading or influencing transformation of processes across levels, and the ability to effectively build partnerships and influence stakeholders and decision-making at all levels of a complex, global organization.

  • Demonstrated success in leading and influencing the practice of diversity & inclusion as an executive champion.

  • Capabilities and experience in leading the integration of multiple data sources into clear, actionable insights and stories, and the ability to move quickly with regular communication and visible progress against objectives.

  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, equally comfortable in quantitative and qualitative environments, and the ability to manage focused, successful outcomes with outside partners.

  • Strong communication in clear and compelling ways, both in writing and verbally, and the ability to adapt appropriately for the environment.


The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $208,198 to $279,290 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
