This Staff Snowflake Software Engineer – Project Hire role would be part of our Business Technology Platforms group, which is responsible for the products and platforms that support Disney’s corporate business functions, and our enterprise service management platforms (Appian, Salesforce, & ServiceNow). This individual will be responsible for translating requirements and user stories into functional software that delivers value to the business. They will help design, develop, test, and implement sophisticated software for use across Disney. We’re looking for a highly qualified Software Engineer, with a deep understanding of large data ingestion, manipulation, and reporting - including tools such as Snowflake, Snowpark, Snowpipe, and Python development technologies - to ensure that we are building outstanding products and continuously maintaining and enhancing existing products to improve our technical excellence.

What You Will Do:

  • Hold oversight for architecting and building data engineering pipelines on Snowflake, and streaming ingestion and transformation using Snowpipe and Dynamic Tables

  • Be responsible for platform projects and related agile delivery teams, where a project comprises of multiple components

  • Own the development of medium-to-large innovative software solutions that meet specifications and impact future development

  • Conceive, set the technical architectural direction, design, and develop specifications for software development projects

  • Review, test, and debug software to improve viability

  • Lead the full lifecycle of projects, potentially including project budgets and forecasts

  • Address difficult problems and sophisticated inquiries for the team

  • Act as a peer group leader to help train staff on Software Engineering standards and processes

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in a Software Engineering or software development role

  • Strong experience implementing data solutions on the Snowflake cloud data platform, including validated experience building continuous pipelines using Snowflake dynamic tables and dbt

  • Validated experience with Snowpark Container Services, Snowpipe, & Streamlit

  • Proficiency in implementing data security measures, access controls, and design within the Snowflake platform

  • Experience with the following: Python, SQL, Java , Spark, Scala - with an ability to build real-time and batch data pipelines

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with large-scale database technology (e.g. Netezza, Exadata, Teradata, Greenplum, etc.)

  • Experience working with multi-Terabyte data sets

  • Experience in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, AI/ML, application modernization, or Cloud projects

  • Experience working in an outsourced IT environment and building strong collaborative vendor relationships

  • Experience implementing agile software development methodologies (PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, ICP-ACC, etc.) and leading the full software development lifecycle

  • Effective communication, writing, and executive presentation skills- being able to translate sophisticated ideas into understandable strategies, requirements, value statements, and business outcomes

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • Snowflake's SnowPro Certification(s)

  • Experience with data analytics platforms and visibility tools (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI)

  • Experience with ServiceNow Platform Integration

The hiring range for this position in Burbank is $149,106 to $200,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
